Summer Slacker

Summer is now at an end for us, in attitude if not weather. School has resumed and I always hate this time of year. So when I felt it approaching, I decided I would rather spend those last few weeks with my not getting any younger, loves of my life. We did a little of this..

And some of this...

And a little of this.

And that.

Had to do this!

And loved every moment.

Now, onto this. This little beauty is already in process and once again I forgot the before pic. I had to copy the CL posting pic (thankfully, he had not removed the listing) It is being reborn as a book shelf for my daughter's room. Of course, a regular shelf just would not do.
I have quite a few pieces waiting for me to give them attention, and many projects await. It's kind of like the to-do list is circulating inside my head, and will find its way once I get moving again.

I hope you all had a wonderful summer, and enjoyed every moment that was given to you!!

Long Lost Table

Happy Monday!! I am happy to have finally brought home a family piece with so much history. This table belonged to my MIL's grandmother, then her mother, then her basement. Just hiding in her basement. Unused. I first caught a glimpse of this beauty about six months ago and knew I had to have her. The only thing holding me back was what I was going to do with her. I knew where I wanted her to go, but had no idea how I wanted to refinish her. I won't lie, I'm still pondering this a bit. One thing I do know is no paint will touch her. I love love love painted furniture. I am not a fan of wood pieces, and have only seen a few worth keeping this way. (big however here) There is so much beauty in this raw distressed state, and so much history (big fan of history right here) I feel like it would be a crime to hide that. It is in need of some tlc, that I can't deny, but which kind exactly??
There is just too much detail that stands to be lost if covered, don't you think?
Even the scratches somehow are beautiful, makes me wonder how they got there? Who put them there?? What would you do with this piece??  To be continued...

Have a Beautiful Day!!
